Wandering Words

Welcome to Upnor
Local arts organisation, Ideas Test, is delivering a community writing project, Wandering Words – and I was chuffed to have been commissioned to write about Upnor, one of my communities in the Medway Messenger columns.

Wandering Words features writing created in response to the landscape, architecture, communities and heritage of Swale and Medway.

The new website is the focal point for the project, providing an online platform for writers of all kinds – bloggers, graphic novelists, performance poets, journalists, and novelists – to share their work. Several writers were commissioned to create a place where people can easily find stories about Swale & Medway and be inspired to write their own, creating a digital library of written reflections of the area.

I had great fun meeting up with local characters and finding out some fascinating stories about life, past and present, in the Upnor villages – big thanks to all of them.

You can read all my stories on the Wandering Words website.

Wandering Words is developed, managed and funded by Ideas Test, which is an Arts Council Creative People and Places project. My commission took place across April/May 2015.
